Below is a message that we received from Whitney Wright, the individual in charge of hiring at the cardiology practice!!
“My name is Whitney Wright. I am a U of Michigan graduate (2007) and currently a practicing physician assistant and office manager for a cardiology practice in Clinton township. Our office only uses pre-pa and pre-med students as our medical assistants and I am in charge of hiring. We do not require a degree or any training in being a medical assistant. This is a great opportunity for pre-pa students to gain all of their needed patient contact hours for their applications without having to do additional training. You also get the opportunity to shadow one of the three PAs in the practice and have them review your applications and personal statements if you wish. I am affiliated clinical faculty at Grand Valley and Detroit Mercy and my partner is affiliated clinical faculty at Wayne State. Medical assistants are taught medical terminology, scribing skills, EKGs, blood pressures, cardiac monitors and use of EPIC EMR, among other skills. We offer some flexibility with our students to complete pre-reqs while they continue to work as well. One of our medical assistants is leaving to start school so we are in need of a replacement. Her classes begin in January when she will drop down to part time with us at that time and then go to school full time starting in April. We are flexible in our hiring and will consider all December and April graduating seniors. We have an immediate need for an MA to begin working on Thursdays. Our ideal candidate would be able to work 4-5 days per week 9 AM to 5 PM by April/May (or sooner) in our Clinton Twp location. However, we are flexible in the position and will consider hiring two part time MAs so please apply even if you are only interested in 2-3 days per week, especially if you can start to work Thursdays ASAP. To apply please send your graduate date, anticipated start date, days you are available to work, plan for PA school (when you plan to submit your application, how many pre-reqs you have left and when you are taking them) and your resume to [email protected]. We look forward to speaking with you and helping you on a successful path to PA school!”
